How do I know my cloth diapers are clean?

Go ahead, smell them! When cloth diapers have been adequately cleaned, they should be odorless. We have a rigorous cloth diaper wash routine, so rest assured, that they are clean. Remember that we do our best to remove all stains, but some staining is normal and does not mean the diaper is unsanitary or ruined. Diapers with excessive staining are removed from circulation.

Can my baby’s daycare use cloth diapers?

This is one of those places where the answer is “it depends”. Each daycare has its own policies when it comes to cloth diapers. If you have a chance speak with the owner or manager to learn their guidelines and preferences. Our pocket diapers aren’t really that much different than disposable diapers so they should be easy for your daycare to adapt. To make is easier for them, provide a wet-dry bag for them to store the dirty diapers in, and if necessary consider offering to remove the solids at home to make the process more consistent with their disposable diaper routine. This will alleviate any concerns your daycare staff may have.

How many cloth diapers do I need?

If you’re buying your own cloth diapers, most people suggest between 24-36 diapers and inserts for newborns and then 12-24 diapers for older infants. This assumes you’re ready to wash diapers every 2-3 days - washing daily means you could do with fewer diapers. We supply 80 diapers a week for newborns and 60 for larger infants ensuring that you have more than enough diapers to get you through the whole week.

What is the difference between a TPU and a PUL liner?

Diaper cloth fabric comes in many forms. TPU and PUL are the polyester materials that make the waterproof outer shell of many cloth diapers. The difference is in the way that they are manufactured: PUL (Polyurethane Laminate) is laminated using solvents through a chemical bonding process, while TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) is bonded to polyester using heat bonding (as opposed to solvents), therefore using less harsh chemicals in the process.
